Lifeline Center for Child Development provides teaching and learning opportunities for up and coming mental health professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists and nurse practitioners. Our site provides hands on training for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellows from the Hofstra North Shore School of Medicine, Zucker Hillside program and psychology and nurse practitioner students from credentialed schools within NYC and Long Island.
Each student’s experience is tailored to the required criteria of their respective training program. Students interact with children with a wide variety of mental health needs in our two school programs (preschool and school age). They are able to participate in a learning environment that includes the classroom, playground and therapeutic milieu. They are also able to observe and learn during evaluations and daily interventions conducted by psychiatry, psychology, occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy.
